The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has been urged to change the business model of the airport into one that is self-sustaining and creates a conducive business environment that would be attractive to the private sector.

This charge was made by the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr George Uriesi, speaking at a strategic session with the management of the Authority in Lagos recently.
Mr. Uriesi said that the strategic thrust of the retreat was to make air transport the preferred and safest means of transportation. It was also designed to create a self-sustaining business model and develop socio-economic growth in Nigeria.

Uriesi also enjoined a transformation that would translate the vision and mission of the Authority into realizable and achievable building blocks adding that management should put into practice  strategic imperatives acquired from the just concluded ministerial retreat held for the top management of aviation parastatals by the Federal Ministry Aviation.

In conclusion, the director charged the members of the Authority’s Leadership Team to mobilize their immediate staff, aviation stakeholders and the general public to participate actively in on-going transformation of Nigerian airports.
