Aviation practitioners must be trendy - FAAN

The Director of Human Resources and Administration of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Hajia Salamatu Umar-Eluma has urged practitioners in the industry to acquaint themselves with the current trends in other to remain relevant. She made the assertion while speaking on the aviation sector reforms and its contribution to the Nigerian economy, she also added that aviation provided the fastest and safest means of transportation of goods and services.

The General Manager, Corporate Communications Hon. Yakubu Dati representing the Director made the address at a workshop organized by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Lagos recently. Various papers were presented by stakeholders including Captain Dele Ore, of the “Aviation Roundtable, who made a case for the merger of  domestic airlines for greater efficiencies.

"The aviation industry is indispensable to the development of the economy of Nigeria because, it provides the fastest and safest means of transportation of goods and services." Hon. Datti added.
The Director also encouraged industrial enthusiasts to embrace the Aerotropolis project  being embarked on by the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah, stating that it would enhance the socio-economic development of the country through increased trade and commerce.

According to Eluma, “ Aerotropolis is a concept of building a city around airports, complete with infrastructures like; hotels, conference centres, markets, banks and other urban infrastructures such that people can fly in, conduct their businesses around the airport and fly out without being exposed to the vagaries of inner city life.
